St Lucia  Activities

The village of St Lucia can be described as an island, it is completely surrounded by a Natural World Heritage Site - the iSimangaliso Wetland Park, formerly known as The Greater St. Lucia Wetland Park. Although the village has all the important tourist amenities, restaurants, bars, curio shops, local crafts, ATM's etc. the area boasts, over 500 bird species, an abundance of wildlife, endless natural beaches and five distinct major ecosystems and much more. Looking for that home away from home experience, on the contrary, you get the feeling that you are definitely elsewhere.



Game Viewing

Big 5 Safari Hluhluwe / iMfolozi
The Hluhluwe Imfolozi Park is 55km / 45 minutes drive from St Lucia. A Big 5 Safari - lion, rhino, elephant, buffalo and leopard are all to be seen in the park, as well as a variety of other species, including cheetah, wild dog and giraffe.
iSimangaliso Wetland Park
In 1999 UNESCO declared iSimangaliso Wetland Park, a Natural World Heritage Site. The park, encompassing five major ecosystems, is affectionately referred to as a ecological paradise and is home to a diversity of wildlife, animals, birds, plants, insects, fish, reptiles and scenic beauty.
Estuary Cruise
How about a leisurely boat trip down the St Lucia Estuary, get up close up to passing fish eagles, hippos, crocodiles and goliath herons against a backdrop of mangrove swamps while you sip a martini.
Safari Night Drive
A two to three hour Safari Night Drive in an open game drive vehicle. See the nocturnal wildlife that are only active at night. Sightings include Hippopotamus (out of the water), bushbabies and even the elusive leopard.
Bicycle Safari - four "B" Tour
Bicycle, Bush, Beach & Beer. For the enthusiastic adventurer who wants to Bicycle in the Bush amongst the Zebras & Wildebeest, then to the Beach and the warm Indian Ocean then enjoy a cold Beer at the Ski Boat Club.

St Lucia Beaches
St Lucia is in a sub-tropical climate, averaging 300 days of sunshine a year. This together with the warm Indian Ocean and St Lucia's pristine blonde beaches makes for a wonderful beach experience.
Whale Watching
From July to November, the Humpback and Southern Wright whale dwell in the St Lucia waters, during their annual migration to mate and calf. You are taken out to sea for this Boat based whale watching tour.
For the South African locals, St Lucia is traditionally famous for it's fishing. The estuary and marine life is very rich and diverse making fishing an enormously popular activity along the entire St Lucia Coastline and the Estuary System. Deep sea fishing trips are on offer to clients. Species include Marlin, Sailfish, King and Queen Mackerel (Snoek), Dorado, Yellow Fin Tuna and Bonito.
Horse Riding
Bhangazi Horse Safaris offers beach and Safari rides in the iSimangaliso Wetland Park where close encounters with the game is assured. The Park is home to many antelope, zebra, wildebeest, elephant, buffalo, rhino and more.
Cape Vidal
Cape Vidal is renowned for it's unspoilt beaches and sport fishing. The 35km trip to Cape Vidal has the distinction of allowing visitors access to both the Africa Wildlife, such as the white rhino, as well as the beaches, warm sea and marine life of the Indian Ocean Coast.
